I am so passionate about the advantages we have when it comes to Tourism. An open question to you all: Where should the World White Bait Master Chef cook-off be held, and who has the courage to pick it up? Collingwood, Haast, Westport, Takaka, Harihari, Mokinui, Greymouth. All are iconic for the whitebait seasons of old, where there was so much they were put under the lemon tree as compost. I have a dozen young ladies that will travel where ever to win this event. It could be an annual event and would draw maybe 300 entries if the prize was enough. That’s about 1000 people coming into your town for a couple of days, and international exposure. Events are the future for domestic tourism.
