I am so tired this Saturday morning after a long, long day yesterday. Our family weaned 25 calves yesterday which meant rounding them up from three different locations, transporting them to Shade Gap, working them through the chute, giving each of them a vaccination shot, grading each of them and recording all the data. We started when Dave Booher met me at home at 7:30 a.m., he and I hooked up the cattle trailer and then we loaded three animals from our Ridge Farm. By 3:30 p.m., he, my wife Linda, our son Christian, and I were done with cattle and we left them to get used to being separated. We headed to Shirley Ayr Farm where Linda baled 38 bales of Alfalfa and I then arrived and baled 38 bales of brome grass. Christian and Gary Hileman moved the bales and wrapped them for haylage. We got home around 7 p.m., took and shower and went to nearby Checkers for dinner. It was packed, but we saw many friends there. Today I am going to bale hay at the McClure Farm where my cousin Ronnie has hay cut, raked, and ready to bale. My mind is willing, but my body is complaining.
