I am sorry that I havent posted much about the last trip to Haiti. There was a lot of logistical issues on this trip, and I am just getting over what that entailed. Heres the abridged version of what happened to me. I left NH on Friday morning after working all night and got as far a New Castle, Delaware, when my car broke down. I was driving to Va. Beach to meet up with my granddaughter and to fly out of Norfolk. So, as a result, my daughter came and got me (a 4 hr+ trip one way) and we got back to Va. Beach with about an hour and a half to spare before we had to be at the airport. The idea was that my car would get fixed while I was in Haiti, but that didnt turn out like it was supposed to. When they ordered the parts, one piece was missing so it had to be reordered. So, as a result, my car wasnt fixed when I got back. So, I took the bus from Norfolk to White River Junction, VT and then rented a car to drive to work and back. On Friday I left work, returned my rental, and immediately boarded a bus to NYC and then Wilmington, Delaware. From there I took a cab over to New Castle (just a few miles) and picked up my car. Now mind you, I had to go to Va. Beach again to pick up my extra luggage and my cat who was staying at my daughters while I was in Haiti. Finally got to my daughters about 2 in the morning and got some sleep. Got up the next morning, took everyone to breakfast, and left and drove just over 12 hrs with only taking one nap. Needless to say, I am not as young as I used to be, and it took some serious downtime to recoup. I am glad that I am not working at the school until Jan 5th, just at the shelter. Will post more on the actual Haiti stuff a bit later.
