I am starting to see the closed mindedness of individuals. Our public school district is very supportive of homeschooling. But the school our daughter attended last year-- a private, Catholic school-- actually had the audacity of reporting me to the school district for not having my child attending school. Wow. First off, I am more educated than the vast majority of the teachers at that school. As an RCIA instructor, I am better equipped to teach my child the faith. I feel rather sad about this event. I have two children that actually still attend that school! No more need to wonder why I resigned from the school board. Seriously considering pulling my other children out. This is what mainstream schooling has become-- it is based on control rather than education. If anyone doubts my point, look into the notion of "unschooling." Just so upset right now. Has any of my other homeschooling friends encountered this before. By the way, the school district suggested it was a way of "making trouble" and to simply continue on!
