I am such a believer in Signs, but I have to admit that this one brought me to tears. At Shaynes memorial service in Atlanta her close friend Ben Adler, the cantor at Temple Emanu-El, sang Over the Rainbow. This particular version of the song, sung by Israel Kamakawiwoʻole (who also died in his 30s), has always moved me deeply. I have always felt a special (and teary) connection to Shayne when I have heard it. Joe and I are traveling and arrived in Malaga, Spain last night. Just as we were sitting down to breakfast in the hotel this morning, this song began playing faintly in the background. I looked at Joe and we both lost it. But with the song came a wonderful sense of peace as well. She is with me wherever I go.
