I am very excited to announce the launching of an international campaign for Worldwide Fistula Fund, a partner of The United Nations Population Fund. The campaign is called the “You are Her. She is Me. Campaign to End Obstetric Fistulas.” Eradicated by Developed Nations, an obstetric fistula is a hole in the birth canal that results from prolonged and obstructed labor affecting women in Africa and Asia. Women grieve the loss of their child and suffer constant incontinence, shame, isolation, and severe and detrimental health problems sometimes leading to death. This disease is 100% preventable and treatable. Ending obstetric fistulas is a United Nations Millennium Goal. Below are two images that I created for Worldwide Fistula Fund to be used in their end of the year campaign. If you are concerned with maternal health, human rights, women’s rights, global health, child health or reproductive care, please get involved!
