I am very pro-women and unapologetically so. Some people even call me a feminist and think that is an insult. I dont care. But some things are just ridiculous. Im sorry but church has a way of doing things that are just weird. When a woman is being panel-beaten, cheated on, put at risk of STIs - church people and pastors will tell her to sit there and pray. As if they like conducting and attending funerals. When that same woman is throwing her marriage away with her own hands, some churches will encourage her in her folly. That she is serving God. Which God? Madam, please dont dress well - especially when you still have the figure for it. Tell him that the trousers, make-up and jewellery he met and married you with, are now a sin. And that your own newfound born-againism is such that you cannot allow such mundane things to take you to hell; so he can go there alone. The devil that is forcing him not to appreciate your inner beauty alone MUST be cast out. Spend ALL day and night in church. In fact, dont tell him where you are going (especially in a place like Nigeria where some people think kidnapping and boko haram activities are legitimate business). I mean, who is he? Afterall, Jesus told his earthly parents (after being presumed missing for three days) Did you not know I will be in my Fathers house? Soo, where does your devil of a husband expect you to be? When the man serves you with divorce papers, youll start panicking. Some wont even notice. Theyll be like, Ah the devil is gone. I am married to Jesus; I can saaarve my Jesu peacefully now. It is NOT feminism to stand up and leave the house, without telling anyone where you are going. That is stupid behaviour - if anything happens to you, nobody will know. If you were not raised by wolves, you would know this. It is NOT feminism to embark on a bout of self-hatred. When your church encourages you not to bathe for three days (when youre not ill, in hospital, or otherwise indisposed) or pull some other kind of stunt, to make the man appreciate inner beauty; you have serious problems. I remember having my hair done and someone was evangelising to the hairdresser. They wanted the hairdresser to come to their church. And their church is one of those places that have no respect for peoples time - those I will keep you in church for 5hrs, as the spirit (of disrespect and indiscipline) leads. The hairdresser said her husband would have a problem with that; basically the man enjoys being married to her and doesnt want to be single. These evangelisers told her that she should lie to her husband, that she was going to do someones hair on a Sunday morning. I was still trying to get my head around that, when they added vigil - the hairdresser should go to their church for vigil. At that point, I asked, Madam, are you sure you want to stay married? I can understand how you can get away with I went to do someones hair on Sunday morning - it does happen. But at night, a vigil? Where will you say you went? This wasnt a case of they live on different continents, so he might never find out.This woman and her husband live in the same house! At this point, the evangelisers got upset. See, they had been cooking up even more lies for the woman to feed her husband (who is neither a child nor stupid) to explain her absence from their home at night. Funny enough, this kind of over-zealous behaviour is the reason that the man starts panicking when he hears about certain churches. I asked them, Do you or your pastor have space in your house, for this woman, when her husband throws her out? Because that is how this will end. I was keen to find out what exactly was wrong with the church that the woman was already attending. According to the evangelisers, any church that is not headed by their pastor, doesnt have real revelation/truth. Nonsense! I knew their pastor so I asked him, Why do you have no problem with your members lying to get people to your church? Even if the cost is this womans broken home? His people had gone to tell him that I had stifled their evangelism. The idiot started talking about how its not really a lie, God does things in different ways Only in Africa will we celebrate the spiritualisation of something that is disgusting, and tag it as part of religion. If you like, allow them to use your head; then, look for someone who will join you in praying useless prayers and disturbing God.
