I am very sad today to read the story of Hafezul Quran Shaheed Muhammad Amin mama which was written by Muhammad nazeef mama the story is below OUR FAMILY SHATTERED LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN WITHOUT YOU BY OUR SIDE! GOODBYE MY BELOVED BROTHER MOHAMMAD AMIN, MY SISTER SUMAIRA AND MY LITTLE ANGLE ABDUL HASEEB.............. It was the 16th of December 2013 about 06 in the morning when I noticed my daughter Hasina whispering and talking softly into her mothers ear. I asked if everything was okay but then noticed my wife started shaking and shivering and tears coming out of her eyes uncontrollably. I sat up and asked again if something serious happened. My wife quietly said that my brothers family home back in Pakistan was on fire. My wife was holding the house phone in her hand I told her to give me the phone to call my brother. Terrible thoughts were going and coming into my head and I was trying to contemplate and figure out the consequences. I tried to control my emotions in front of my family and dialled my brothers mobile number but no one answered. I then tried once more but again no answer. At this point I got really worried and all my fears and nightmares were coming into my head. I called my cousin Haji Mohammad Nasim and he answered the phone. I asked him quietly if everything was okay and also asked him what really happened. He told me that there was a gas explosion in Mohammad Amins room (my brother) and his entire family was seriously burnt and they were in the Ambulance heading to WAH CANTT Hospital in the state of Punjab. I then asked him why this hospital and why not the hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. His answer was a bombshell where he said that everyone is so serious and the hospitals in the area told us that they cannot treat them and they have no facilities for such incidents. Upon hearing this my world collapsed and the land under my feet disappeared. At this point my body went numb and did not know what to do next. About 30 minutes later I sent a text message to Anas Sarwar MP and Humza Yousaf MSP to help me with emergency visa to travel to Pakistan to be with my family. Flight ticket was another nightmare. I could not get any ticket on the same day from Glasgow and I have to travel to Birmingham. About 4pm on that day I got a direct flight from Birmingham to Islamabad and arrived there about 04:30 in the morning. The eight hour flight was not coming to an end and I felt I was travelling for eight months. Our flight was the only flight which arrived at Islamabad airport and there was no human traffic and the airport was empty. We cleared the immigration quickly where my friend was waiting outside at arrival hall to take me to the hospital. I along with my sister who was also travelling with me arrived at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Burn Centre) about 05:30 in the morning. It was very quite in front of the hospital and there was no one at the time in front of the hospital. I called my brother no answer. I then call my cousin still no answer. At this point, I thought maybe they are all dead and that is why no one is answering their phones. I quietly and politely asked the security guard at the reception and gave him my brother name in the hospital. He went inside the hospital and brought my cousin outside who was looking after my brother to meet me. I did not look into his eyes but said Salam to him and hugged him. I asked him if Amin and his family were going to make it. He did not reply but told me instead that if I was going to go inside the hospital to meet my brother and his family. My sister was inside the car crying in silence. I went to the car and asked my her if she was prepared to go inside. She quietly said yes in a very sad voice. I then told her not to cry and to put a brave face in front of my brother and she agreed. She went inside the hospital and joined my elder sister and my female cousin who were already there and were looking after my two nephews from day one. I was standing in the cold weather outside the hospital thinking how am I going to face my brother and his family trying to think what I am going to tell my brother. Few minutes later I requested the security guard at the reception to allow me to go inside to meet my brother and his family and he kindly agreed to let me in. While walking inside the hospital telling myself to be strong not to show any emotions or cry in front of my brother when meeting him. Finally I arrived at the bedside of my brother. I was standing next to my brothers bed but did not recognise him as he was fully covered in white bandage like a SANTA and his face fully swollen and beyond recognition. While standing there and looking confused, bewildered and lost my cousin said, Amin is trying to shake your hand. I replied where is Amin and suddenly Amin said with a sweet soft voice, Gul Lala (big brother) you are standing next to my bed. I got the shock of my life to see my brother in that condition. I touched his hand with both my hands as he was not able to raise his hand and kissed him on his forehead. When I looked into his eyes the tears started to come out from his eyes. A few minutes later he told me that he is now confident to make a full recovery as I and other relatives have arrived to be with him. I assured him that you will be okay and you just need to be strong and patient. He then asked me about everyone in Glasgow and asked if everyone was okay. He was mentally stabled and was talking to me just like a normal person will do. After a few minutes he asked me if I have seen his son, Abdul Haseeb and how he was. He also asked me if his son was burnt seriously. He loved his elder son (Abdul Haseeb) more than anyone else in the family. I told him a lie and said yes I just met your son and he was fine and has got only minor injuries. My brother looked at me and told me that I was lying and told me that he thought his son was seriously burnt. I asked him if his son life was more precious than his. His reply was yes and said he only lives for his son he does not care if he die but want his son to survive. Imagine a father who is 75% burnt and still thinking about his children and did not bother about himself tells you something special about himself and his love for his family. I told my brother to excuse me for few minutes and I then went to the other side of the room to meet my sister -in- law, where she was looked after by her mother. I greeted her mother first and then went to Sumairas bedside and kissed her on her forehead. I bravely said hello Sumaira. She greeted me with the Muslim greeting asked me about everyone in my family back in Glasgow. We started chatting and she was very angry with herself. She told me it all happened because of her. She said if anyone dies that means she has killed him because she was the one who switched on the gas heater which leaked in the room for many hours. I tried to console her and reassure her that it was no bodys fault and it was sheer bad luck and Allah has written this tragedy for us to happen. She was complaining of a terrible pain in her body and begged me to tell the doctor to give her pain injection. She then asked me if she would be discharged in a weeks time and I told her yes just to make her happy. At this my cousin called me and told me to go outside and have some sleep in the car as I have travelled and did not sleep almost for two nights. I told my cousin and requested him to allow me to be with my brother. I told him to go and take a break and I would remain with my brother and sister-in-law. He agreed and showed me how to feed my brother and also told me to visit my sister-in-law and their children from time to time as they all needed help. It was about 09 in the morning and the doctors were rounding the wards to check the health and progress of the patients. I told my cousin to go away for the day so I can be with my brother and sister to look after them. About 9:30 the Doctor and his team arrived at my brothers bed, I introduced myself to the doctor and asked him few questions regarding my brother, his wife and children. MY WORLD COLLAPSED One of the doctors (Dr Nasrullah) invited me to his private room for a cup of tea I agreed to go to his room for tea and discussion regarding my brother and familys health. He asked me if I was a strong person and I replied in what way. While he was preparing tea he asked me about my relationship with my brother. I told him that I am his older brother and I am here to care for him and also told him that I have just arrived from Glasgow. He then dropped a bombshell on me where my body went numb and I could not talk for a good few minutes and went speechless. HE TOLD ME THAT MY NEPHEWS WILL SURVIVE FOR TWO DAYS ONLY AND MY BROTHER AND SISTER WILL NOT LIVE BEYOND FOUR DAYS. I did not know what to say or how to react. I was just starring at the wall and terrible thoughts and nightmares were going into my head. I had goosebumps all over my body and thinking what I am going to tell my mother when I go home to meet her tomorrow. I told the doctor that life and death decisions are made by Allah only and you are in no position to say this. We finished our tea and parted company. I then went to my brother bedside and kissed him on his forehead the only place which was not hidden in bandage. We started talking and I asked him how this all happened. He told me it was after 11pm and his wife switched on the gas heater in the room because of the cold weather and also their older son was not well. He continued the story and said that they all went to sleep but somewhere during the night the gas went off (gas load shedding) but the gas heater was remained switched on. Without realising that the gas has come back and the heater was still switched on and the gas was coming out in full flow from the heater. About 05:45 my brother Haji Zareef knocked on my door and said to get ready for Morning Prayer. Sumaira answered him and told him that they were awake and would get ready for prayer in few minutes. As my son was not well and my wife wanted to make the room warm before she goes to take her ablution and to get ready for prayer. Without realising that there was a gas leak at least for 4-5 hours and everyone has inhaled too much. The moment she lit the heater and the biggest explosion happened in the neighbourhood. I did not hear the explosion as I was a sleep. I only woke up when my body was on fire. I ran outside but suddenly realised midway through that I have young children in the
