I am writing on behalf of my friends to ask for a compassionate animal lover who wants to adopt or foster a gentle and vulnerable dog, named Shimmer. Shimmer is a four-year old Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dog that needs nurturing, patient care and time to heal. Within days of adopting Shimmer from a shelter, my friends learned that she had distemper and was malnourished and dehydrated. She has received the recommended treatments and continues to convalesce. Her spirit is strong despite a history that undoubtedly would have broken other less tenacious ones, and her temperament is impeccably patient and mild. Even in her weakened state, she responded placidly to the boisterous play and rambunctious affection of my friends’ 5 year-old daughter. Two weeks after adopting Shimmer, my friends’ home caught fire, and they have since been displaced from their home. They are not able to provide the calm and stable environment Shimmer needs in order to heal. Please consider helping this wonderful animal friend.
