I am writing this personal reference regarding the impeccable professionalism and service that I have received from Michele Robinson from Northwestern Mutual Inc., as she is helping me right my personal financial mess and start 2015 on the correct path to sustainability and responsibility. I met Michele at an event that our company, LB3 Management, hosted for one of our clients, 100 Black Men of Greater Detroit. It was honoring women of color business owners and professionals who are revenue and management leaders in their specific industries and careers. Michele and I hit an immediate positive rapport regarding our mutual interest and awareness of the financial industry, investment instruments and global economic conditions. Michele and I met to learn more about each other and see how she could help me start a new direction for my personal fiscal management. Michele’s personality, positive Christ-led spirit and knowledge made it extremely easy to open up and discuss the mess that I have made out of my personal finances since my first professional position at the Wellness Plan. I have been very blessed to work for two great corporations (The Wellness Plan and the Bartech Group) and have been a partner-owner with two mildly successful firms (Urban Consulting Group and Foster McCollum White & Associates) and am now work for a great firm (LB3 Management & Associates), over 23 years of professional work experience. During that time, I have made north of $668,000 in gross salary during the past 23 years. Right now, I have nothing to reflect the money that I have made and that is due to my own bad management of money and poor choices during the same period. I have lamented my mistakes and failures in managing my own money but after I explained everything to Michele, she had an honest and frank conversation with me. She said that one, it’s time to move on from your mistakes because you don’t have to make the same mistakes ever again. Secondly, she told me how I can start making smart decisions with every dollar that I receive from this point forward and start building for retirement, personal living, debt elimination and taking care of my son Xavier and any other similar priorities. She has helped me to develop a financial plan for my 2015 income, to start new and build based upon a model of retirement savings instruments, securities, life insurance and disability insurance, personal savings and college plan savings for Xavier, while accounting for living daily and debt elimination but responsibly. This has been an eye opener for me because I was ashamed and thought an advisor such as her would judge me negatively because of my past actions. Michele’s professionalism and personal concern for the people that she works with trumps that and gets to real common sense dialogue and planning to fix the issue. This is a big relief for me. As I start 2015, she will help me build into the difference vehicles step by step so that I become a new, fiscally sound person for the rest of my life. If this is the type of person that Northwestern Mutual brings on their team to help people like myself, it makes me feel very good about working with their firm. I know a number of other great individuals in the financial services industry and nothing against them, but in my personal case, Michele Robinson is the right one for me and the new fiscally responsible person that I am becoming.
