I apologize, I just posted about Rahab and immediately took it - TopicsExpress

I apologize, I just posted about Rahab and immediately took it down and just wondered why? Without being overly spiritual, I really sensed that the Lord wanted me to encourage somebody about the issue of TRUST. I dont know WHO this is for, this will be transparent. Trust is a huge issue to talk about. My life changed nearly a year and a half ago, when our marriage counselor asked me a question about my restoration process. I shared with the details and how I am working on earning and rebuilding trust. He said something that changed my life. He said, Trust is not earned, trust is a gift. Trust is like Gods grace its a gift you receive, he had my attention. He went on to say, its good to rebuild trust again but understand that even if you become trustworthy and do everything asked of you. People in the end of the process will still choose to tell you they dont trust you. Trust is a gift that they will either choose to give or not. He went on to tell me, dont spend the next two years trying to earn trust from people who have already chosen not to give it to you. That changed my life! Trust is a GIFT just like grace. That night my wife and I shared that with some friends over dinner. One of them said, Pastor I give you my trust as a gift. I completely broke down in tears because I have never felt the weight of the gift of trust before like that. I am so grateful for the 19 months of the restoration process before even thinking about ministry again. But this issue of trust changed my life. I totally understand that some will never trust me again, I really do understand that and my heart will always be sorry for the hurt and disappointment I caused. But today, I value the gift of trust like I value the presence of God in my life. In order to restore trust you have to stop arguing about the details of the past and start talking about the design for the future. You will never rebuild trust on the ashes of the past. You need a new vision for the future. You have to replace your view of the past with a vision for the future and realize it’s going to take time to rebuild that trust! I hope this helps someone who has been battling with the issue of trust!!! Cherish the gift when someone gives you their trust. Its priceless and very weighty! Happy Tuesday Everyone.
