I applaud the House for acting to lower student loan interest rates before the start of the next school year. With national student loan debt climbing to over $1 trillion, students and their families are in urgent need of assistance following the rise in interest rates less than a month ago. While the fight to reduce student debt is far from over, this bipartisan legislation provides much needed relief for our students and their families. I commend Representative Joe Courtney for his leadership on this issue and look forward to continuing our efforts to lower the costs of higher education.
