I appreciate you. At work, we have a board in the back called The Celebration Board. On that board are the pictures of people that have passed away while employed here. The board is meant as remembrance and celebration of their life. Unfortunately here at Wheeler Broadcasting, weve had 5 people pass away within 5 years. An unusually high amount Id expect for one office in such a short time. This past weekend, we lost another co-worker Nigel Christopher who went by DJ BIG DOSE. He was always happy, smiling, and just an overall positive person. He served as the afternoon DJ on our sister station THE VIBE and did the weekend mix shows on K92. When I walked by the board yesterday and saw his picture on it, it really hit me as to how fragile life is. We are not guaranteed our next breath. With the exception of one other sudden death, the celebration pictures on the board are of people that were ill. Their passing wasnt necessarily expected, but because of their illness, didnt come as much of a surprise, therefore allowing those around them to prepare. Doses death happened while he was on vacation in Panama. A bus full of tourists went over a cliff due to brake failure. He was here and the next minute he was gone. Today is the day he was to return to work. There was a part of me that was hoping he would show up today, and it all be a big misunderstanding because he was in a foreign country and didnt have cell service or something. Of course, he did not show up today. Please take a moment right now to make peace with God, and call, email, hand write a note, or tell someone in your life that you appreciate them and are glad they are in your life. They may be gone in the next second, or who knows, maybe it will be you. For me, if my time comes today, next week, next year, or if Im fortunate to live a long life, Im ok with it, but I want you to know, Im happy you are in my life.
