I attended the fund raising high tea of Gabungan Bertindak Malaysia (GBM) at KL and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall this afternoon. The theme of this event is harmony nourishes peace. This is my first time to the programme organized by GBM and this function made me know them better. This coalition composed of multi ethnic and multi religious groups and they fight for various issues related to human rights and democracy. There were not that many people in this fund raising high tea here today, but I was amazed when I heard from the Syed Ibrahim, the chairman of the fund raising committee said that the total amount of table sales was RM260K. Wao!! Thats great!! There were various performance, including poem recitation by young people of different ethnics and poem written by Pak Samad. The organizer auctioned two pieces of Pak Samads painting. They were taken by RM5K each, this added another RM10K to the total fund raised. We need more NGOs or NGOs alliance like GBM that promote racial integration, human rights and peace in Malaysia.
