I believe ISIS would like nothing more than having US commit to war in Iraq/Syria. To that end, they have very effectively used social media to incite and inflame the US people. They know how we will react to the brutal beheadings of American journalists, how popular opinion and public outrage will put political pressure on our administration. Its part of their calculus and we should not take the bait. The boots on the ground in Iraq/Syria should be Arab. For far too long the Saudis, The Jordanians, The Quataris, The Kuwaitiis have been allowed to sit on the sidelines secure and smug with the notion that the US will keep the wolves at bay. All of these countries are authoritarian ruled, with highly suspect human rights records, whose rulers continue to enrich themselves with US blessing and subsidies. We must not take the bait. No significant US intervention without firm, concrete commitments of personnel and money from Arab states.
