I believe right now Drake is the most influential artist in the game. It doesnt make him the best, nor does it make him the worst. What I mean by most influential is the fact that he appeals to many different people, whether they be Black, White, Asian, Guys, Girls, etc. The fact that he has covered different genres (R&B, Old School R&B, Sampling Old School Hip Hop, etc.) and still sound good doing it is something most rappers wont do nowadays. The fact that he can maintain a certain image to fit societal standards while doing his own thing is a feat that is hard to truly achieve in this day and age. You could say Drake started his own little sub genre because of his success. Drake has influenced many artists, including Logic. You can tell Logic totally bites Drakes style in almost every way. Remember when everybody was trying to be just like Lil Wayne? Now everybodys trying to be like Drake. Now this doesnt mean hes the best rapper out there, this just means hes one of the most successful of this generation. There are people that think his style is too soft or too emotional. There are times where Drake has embellished a little here and there (but then again, who hasnt?). Point being, at least Drakes smart about it. At least he knows to not completely focus on one thing and be the most ignorant rapper out, like Lil Wayne. Now I understand that some of you would hate him for his style and his approach, but if youre only hating him because hes more successful than your favorite rapper, then thats just ignorant.
