I bought this framed print portrait of the Apollo 11 crew at the Bellas Hess department store when I was fifteen in 1969. It was only two or three bucks, but I was proud to spend a sizable chunk of my hard-earned money on it. The artist was the famous Alton S. Tobey who painted historical murals for museums and public buildings all over the world. Tobey ignored most of the details on the spacesuits and all three astronauts looked a little younger than they actually were in 1969, but Tobey was an artists who did things his own, unique way. He also produced a lot of abstract art that was very unlike his historical pieces.
