I call it Gs CREOLE DELIGHT BLACK FOREST HAM STACK...just made that up off the top of my brain. This was a wonderful, and very impromptu, sandwich requested recently by my youngest son. A few months ago I made him a French toast sandwich with jelly and a rum-infused peanut butter sauce...AWESOMENESS! This time around he wanted something similar, and THIS is what happened. As I love to do, I grabbed some leftovers and repurposed them...I don’t like to let foods go to waste. I did a French toast preparation on the inside of a sliced French bread loaf, and slathered some cinnamon-laced peanut butter on both halves. I didnt have jelly, so instead I used some of the fresh cranberry sauce I made a couple of weeks ago. And in the spirit of of one of my favorite sandwiches, the Monte Cristo, I added a light dusting of powdered sugar. Next I added a layer of caramelized bananas, followed by a generous layer of thinly sliced Black Forest ham...DONE! The result? He #SMASHED it...I think he even licked the plate clean! I know to some such a combination of ingredients is not really appealing. But if you truly understand the subtleties of layering and merging flavors, stuff like this is easy.. AND delicious...BON APPÉTIT YALL!
