I came across a great realization /benefit from Ustaadh Moosa Richardson (hafidhahullah) from his lecture on Yasir Qadhi. It is not the salafis who shy away from learning / implementing sharee politics. The politics of the salafis is based on the Book, the Sunnah upon the understanding of the salaf. And according to the revealed texts, we MUST obey the Muslim rulers in hardship and in ease, even if he beats our backs and takes our wealth away from us, as long as they do not command with the disobedience of Allah. The ikhwaanis / Yasir Qadhi on the other hand, do not see this to be sufficient. They believe that we must import western political concepts and philosophies such as democracy, freedom of speech, Marxist style revolutions, etc to put themselves in power (seeking leadership is also not allowed in Islam). So whos the one neglecting Islamic politics again?
