I came away from whitehawk with a nasty taste in my mouth...not the result, I think they probably played better than us in the atrocious conditions. No it is the way that certain entities can just pump money into a club, secure good players (and be honest they had some decent players yesterday) with only around 100 of their own fans supporting the club. Meanwhile clubs like eastbourne borough continue to exist because of the hard work of the board and support staff and the faith of the supporters. There is something patently wrong if the powers that be continue to allow this to happen. It seems to me that the ethos behind this...pump money in, get the players and put everything like facilities on the backburner until if and when they get promoted with the sweetener of a superb stadium hovering just over the horizon at the end of the yellow brick road. I do not doubt that there are people at whitehawk who work really hard behind the scenes, but I think it will all end in tears like so many boom and bust clubs. If the money dries up there are a lot of mercenary players who will be off to the next jampot including the manger and his 3 coaches. Your thoughts please without stooping to kingy bashing, be fair he is what he is and has built a good side at whitehawk. Its easy maybe to throw money at a club. Its not so easy to make it all function.
