I can easily imagine a triage nurse in Dallas going from person to person in an emergency room. Why are you here, sir? I have a fever. I just flew in from Liberia. I see. Do you have insurance? What company? Do you have your card with you? Let me make a copy. The doctor will see you when he can. It could be a long wait? O.K? Sure .. Im used to long sits. Hours later and seen, home he goes with some aspirin. The doc only saw the symptom, stuck a thermometer in his ear and decided he did not need EMERGENCY CARE, handed over some aspirin and a general attitude of dismissal. This is not intended to scare people but to remind that we forget too easily -- we didnt win in Vietnam, nor Iraq, nor Afghanistan, nor here. We forgot that. Larry the Cable Guy is a real example of United States exceptionalism -- get er done. We won in WW2 in the Pacific by killing tens or hundreds of thousands of Japanese with a bomb delivered by a plane that faced no opposition as it flew over the Japanese mainland. Winning is less ugly than losing but not much! We forgot that.
