I cannot help but be disappointed when I see well known leaders - TopicsExpress

I cannot help but be disappointed when I see well known leaders say something that is inconsistent with their own practice and can sow dangerous ideas in the body of Christ. Statements that ridicule the idea of believers having their own facilities, or paying bills as a group to have a place to meet is not helpful or true. Such talk fosters an attitude against any group that may own property. For any group to assemble as a larger group they will need a location to do so. If your group exceeds 50 people you will discover you need appropriate facilities to accommodate a Lords Day gathering. Unless you like meeting in open air venues even in bad weather. It is not impossible to do so but not many enjoy freezing in the winter or getting wet in storms. It is not a badge of devotion above all others to do so either. Guess what, having a place to meet in any weather situation means everyone enjoying that opportunity and privilege will need to help make that a reality at whatever level they can. If they wish to do so they are not judged as powerless Christians. They are not powerless sheep just because they are part of a group of believers committed to each other and working together to have a place to meet regularly and bring those they are reaching for Christ to be instructed like they are. This does not make them part of a powerless dead system. It makes them a family of believers working together and sharing a responsibility together for the purpose of being a community. This is even further expressed when you are witness to their caring for each other way beyond the facilities they share. All these supposed new revelations that wish to denigrate the church as we have known it are not so wonderful if they require a person to try and destroy the church to make their idea work. What is to be gained anyway? Are they hoping to draw away believers in buildings to themselves? Why not go out in the world and promote your new found revelation, win some souls, and build how you believe you should without trying to tear apart others expressions of faith and practice? As a Pastor I do not go around to people who meet in homes or parks and tell them they are wrong for doing so and part of a system. I am not trying to draw them to what I am doing as though what they are doing is out to lunch. Especially if they are fellowshipping and under the preaching of the gospel, and participating in community. Perhaps what this tearing down behavior reveals is actually insecurity in ones revelation as opposed to authority. Maybe those who wish to prophetic and revelatory should check their ideas with Scripture from time to time as well. I do not know their motives since I am not God. But it definitely does not build up the body. Yes there are born again believers in thousands of organized churches throughout this nation. Many of which if they ceased being in communities the society around them would go to hell in a hand-basket in no time. So enough with the holy than thou nonsense over how one does a meeting, please!
