I cannot imagine anything more wonderful than a peaceful weekend - TopicsExpress

I cannot imagine anything more wonderful than a peaceful weekend at home in the weeks prior to Christmas. The kitchen is oozing with activity, we are fighting for stove and oven space and the smell of fabulous cookies is competing with the subtle variances of stews and roasts; the bottle of red is shared equally between sauce and motivation for the cook and our daily tea-time is elevated to a tasting extravaganza of the just completed cookies. The garage is a mess of god-knows-how-many boxes with Christmas decoration and lights, trees, knick-knacks and a small army of nutcrackers occupy the house. Great fun, indeed – I love it; it beats any restaurant, any fancy hotel … On Tuesday next week (Dec 10th), we will have our 5th (!) Beyond Hospitality Christmas Party – if you happen to be in Vegas, we would love to have you over. I might even consider sharing one or two of them cookies …. (no, only kidding – no way J). But there is a good chance that we will have a little bit of wine, possibly even a little tasting that would make it worthwhile …. Talking about wine tastings. My dear friend Brian, one of the greatest hoteliers I know (and most fabulous client) introduced me last year to the most horrible little video of a British comedian named Micheal McIntyre. Horrible as it forever ruined every dinner in every restaurant since and for the future. Every time I order wine in a restaurant and have to go through the tasting procedure I have to think of this little video and burst out laughing – ending up telling the sommelier about the video and not only Britta, but also the kids making smart comments (“Red, does it taste like Red Wine). It is brilliant – have a look: https://youtube/watch?v=doBwwLaEHD8 With this spirit in mind, I leave you to a great rest of your Saturday and hope you have sensational Sunday
