I cant stress enuff too please! please! please! do your homework and be your pets advocate before leaving him in the hands of strangers, just because the facility looks pretty and clean and the employees are friendly and seem like they know what they are doing, doesnt always mean they really do. So many things could be going on behind the scenes that you may never be aware of or at least not until its too late. Some things you can do to be sure your pet is safe is ask about all the employees training and experience (be sure there training and certifications are not from some on-line college!!) Be sure the owners of the facility also have a great deal of animal experience, too many times people open these businesses thinking they are going to make alot of money playing with puppies all day. Be sure all employees and business owners have first aide experience and even some vet experience would be a great plus!!! Are they experienced in the different dog breeds and body language of dogs?; again not just book experienced but hands on experience (like I always say anybody can read and quote; from the internet) when dealing with animals each employee should have a great deal of hands on experience !! and be able to back that experience up with physical proof ! Next check to be sure they have cameras EVERYWHERE not just in certain places, if boarding your pet be sure there is someone 24hrs a day!!! AGAIN dont just take the facilities word for it demand proof, stop in unannounced, check the cameras at night to be sure there really is someone there, so many times these places will tell you what you want to hear but not what you need to hear.....not all dogs are suited for day care and not all day cares are bad and yes accidents do happen, k9 or human, but many incidents go unreported and happen due to lack of experience on the facilities part. Another thing to look for when boarding your pet is to check for proper air circulation this doesnt mean just having air condition; but also proper ventilation, by this I mean having exhaust fans and proper circulation in each kennel. There are so many things to consider when leaving your pet in the care of a stranger, look at it as if you were leaving your 2 legged child there. The same safety precautions should be in place. So please be your pets voice when it comes to leaving him in a day care/boarding center and be sure to check the pet over carefully when they do return home..I will not apologize if I have pissed people off for writing this it needs to be said and pet owners need to be aware, if you are a kennel/daycare owner and i have made you mad then maybe you should ask yourself why are you so mad, if things are being done correctly there should be no reason to be so angry....
