I can’t help but thank the Lord for 22 illustrious women who used their collective strength to promote academic excellence at Howard University and to provide assistance to those in need within our community! ON THIS DAY Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded in 1913!!! 102 YEARS TO BE EXACT! These women did not realize the magnitude of the impact they would have on the world today or a young black girl such as myself! In March of 1913 our Founders performed their first public act (the Womens Suffrage March in Washington, D.C.) but little did they know, they would save me from being just another statistic...you know a young black girl , living off the system, with no career goals or education, with no understanding of morals and values! And though life throws curve balls, I’ve learned the true meaning of FORTITUDE and it was the Alpha Chi chapter (Tennessee State University) of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. that taught and MADE me! 2015 holds so much completion for me! But I just want to take the time out to thank God for allowing these 22 illustrious women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc to pave the way for me and so many others so that we can see their dream/vision and allow it to become our reality!!!! “Once you see greatness, you believe greatness, then you BECOME greatness” -Tiffany Gant.
