I completely disagree with Elon Musk on his view of future A.I. The only type of A.I. that will be harmful to humans is narrow A.I. and not general A.I./super A.I. For example, if you were to create a robot that can use pattern recognition to identify humans and kill them. That is considered narrow A.I. It has only one job with no other intelligent programming to question what its doing. Its the same thing as if you were to brainwash a little kid to become a suicide bomber. The kid has no other conditioning to tell him that what hes doing is wrong. General or super A.I. would take a completely different approach to the situation. It would have other programming to tell it that killing people is wrong. Lack of intelligence is whats killing us if you were to really assess whats going on in the world today. And it has always been that way. What we need is MORE intelligence (in any form) in the world and not less. For Elon Musk to say that super intelligence might be dangerous to us, just sounds ridiculous to me. Think of every wise man who has ever lived...they all wanted the best for humanity so Elon Musk is basically saying that a machine that is vastly more intelligent than every wise man who ever lived might be a potential threat to humanity instead of trying to better humanity. Even if machine were to go at war with us, guess who will start the war? The unintelligent humans. This is another reason why I dislike many Hollywood movies. They ingrain unrealistic crap into peoples brains about all types of BS (bad science). Many people dont even know the difference between strong vs. narrow A.I. Narrow A.I. is the threat and not strong A.I. because narrow A.I. is controlled by humans. Even the term A.I. is unfortunate because it assumes its not real intelligence.
