I continue to hear about the Constitutional Convention and I continue to oppose it. I frequently tell people that amending the constitution does not address the reckless abandon which the constitution is ignored. When I say this I am told that the mechanism of enforcement needs changed. Sounds good, except we are a republic which derives power from the consent of the governed. The mechanism of consent is the people, we need to step up. Changing the method of enforcement means changing the source of power and at that point we are no longer a republic. That is my .02 as I have posted before and will do so again.
