I dang near blew a gasket on my show yesterday and am still somewhat steaming about Van Vandewalker being snubbed by our new and supposedly improved Macon-Bibb consolidated government. Oh sure, we reduced the number of elected officials from a ridiculously high total of 21 down to 10 when we combined the county and city governments recently, but after not appointing Van yesterday, Ive realized all we have really accomplished with this new government was joining two entities that together, give us a calamity that could easily be labeled, dumb and dumber, the damn sequel!! We are fortunate to have a couple of men of honesty and integrity on this commission like Mallory Jones and the Rabbi, who actually do have this communitys best interests at heart and will always stand up and fight for whats right, but they simply cant right this ship by themselves. All we went thru to get consolidation passed, so we could then attempt to get this dying and decaying city out of the ditch appears now to be a total waste of time and resources judging by this ordeal yesterday! Im convinced that all we really did on January first was shrink the cast of clowns under the big-top of the Macon political circus down from ten to eight. Were talking four pair of babbling buffoons that would make the Beverly Hillbillies look like Wall Street executives. This mayor and commission shouldve appointed Van Vanderwalker in record speed yesterday, thus CLOSING this deal once and for all. But face the cold hard truth my friend, its doubtful most of these characters could CLOSE an umbrella!! Our so called leaders have hoodwinked AND flat-lied to us for many, many months regarding this entire animal welfare and shelter fiasco. They used the animals and rescue groups to get the splost passed and get their dirty, double-dealing, dishonest mitts on all that money. They then dropped the rescue folks like a hot-rock! So many of us wanted a no or at least a low-kill shelter with a person like Mr. Vanderwalker at the helm. He does actually have a heart and truly cares about the animals. Anyone who cant at least see that in Van has an even lower IQ than most of these bozos we unfortunately have in office. So now we STILL have a rat and disease infested shelter, which is now basically a slaughter house with the same woman in charge that we didnt want in the first place!! Sara tenon as head of animal welfare is like handing-over all the Package Store Keys to Otis Campbell and naming him the general-manager! Since her tenure began here, this lady has pissed-off more animal rescue groups than I have program-directors, station managers and consultants thru the years!! Folks, these are Gods animals and they dont have a fightin chance here at our shelter! And let me say this, along with many different ventures, my Dad was also a contractor and residential/commercial builder. Hes been dead almost 20 years now but I swear he couldve already had our new animal shelter built!! Honestly, this whole situation couldnt have been handled any worse than what it has been! I know that many of you must agree with me on that! Sam hart and the commission going out there almost a year and a half ago with a shovel and breaking ground for nothing but a photo-op just before the election shows exactly how ignorant our elected officials think we are!! Truth be known, some of the self-loved members of that commission, not to mention the chairman, struggled to even put a complete sentence together, much less spell or even begin to read a county budget!! At least picking up a shovel that day out in West Macon for that phony ground-breaking theatrical was likely the only hint of real labor youll ever witness most of them doing. Many of these so called leaders weve painfully had in office for years and some for even decades and others we now have in office should be ashamed!! Sorry didnt mean to go on a rant this early. All this is just my opinion and I could be wrong!!.....by the way commissioner, what exactly are you speaking of when you say the word, SPLOSH?
