I didnt get interested in Huntington history out of plain curiosity...I got interested because this man. The best man Ive ever known. Dad (Gary Jester) knew more than I ever will about the people and history of this county. When he got sick at the end of 2011 and his subsequent passing on March 6, of 2012....I wanted to spend as much time as possible with him, no matter that it had to be in the hospital. I started looking up Huntington history so that I would have something to talk about when I went to visit. It made him light up like a Christmas tree, and he could go on for hours. Since hes passed, I always feel closer to him when I get looking at these pictures. I imagine all the stories (some made up, youll be laughing if you knew him because you know how much that is true) hed be telling me as we scroll through these pictures. No matter what the reason youre looking at these pictures and (hopefully) posting some of your own, thank you for your interest. Its people like these who will hopefully, someday, made this town more to talk about than the unemployment rates, or how its becoming a ghost town, or all the other negative stereotypes. Families lived here, strived here, memories made...and I love seeing and reading about each of them. Thank you for sharing.
