I disagree with the basic premise of this Bit of Upworthiness. Of course reporters are rude -- they need to ask direct questions instead of nibbling around with social niceties as you would when acting as a private individual. They are not being personally rude to Mindy Kaling and dismissing her, at least not always and possibly even not usually. They are acting as the representatives of an audience that includes lots of non-white, non-skinny, non-male, marginalized persons, asking Mindy Kaling for a clearly stated and useful nugget of distilled experience that their audience can hear and take to heart, to encourage themselves to have confidence and resist marginalization.
