I dislike the idea of sub genres in music especially when they are based on slight differences in what is basically the same style. I further dislike people who make statements such as the following Their music is fusion metal/ blah blah with influences of blah how bout it is just music with a primary metal influence, lets stop putting things in boxes. Musicians only limit their creativity by limiting themselves to certain styles. I totally agree that if you like a certain genre you play within it such as metal but from that broad title you should feel free to incorporate elements of all different genres, and people should expect to hear this variation and not expect a band to conform to labels and rules. The above hypothetical quote of people going too far with labelling sub genres displays a mentality that creates a restrictive approach to music. You dont need to label all the small influences its just music and this attitude often has negative effects. Example : Skrillex isnt Dubstep dont say he is you dick No your totally right Skrillex isnt dub step hes a muso who firstly writes music he likes and second blends countless genres to create a superior sound, thats why hes successful dick head he doesnt play the same shit every song.
