I do love motorcycling and I have to admit that it’s widened my social circles considerably and introduced me to some really wonderful people and for that I’m grateful. However, every now and again I run into a biker that reminds me that, aside of riding a motorbike, bikers are just normal human beings underneath and as such a good number of them are just as bigger muppets as some of the rest of the general public; I encountered just such a biker this afternoon at around 13:45 on the A6195 Park Spring Road heading towards Cudworth. I was following my friend who is and Bike Instructor and was out with a student MOD2 training when a guy on a BMW GS comes hurtling past me and then proceeded to hurtle past the instructor and his student as he approach the roundabout outside ASOS cutting both of them up in the process. I decided to follow him to see what he got up to next and low and behold it didn’t get any better! For a start when he saw me behind him he must have decided I wanted to race him because all common sense then disappeared out of the window; he filtered at high speed past all the traffic with oncoming traffic coming the other way, shot around two roundabouts and didn’t even see the two patches of diesel that he ran straight through; his obs were absolutely appalling. As he rode down the road at this speed he was waving at me and giving me the wanker sign so pleased he was winning the race with himself that he seemed to be engaged in. Needless to say when I got to the next roundabout where the road works and the traffic lights were I decided I wasn’t going to follow him any longer. So, you would think that would be the end of it wouldn’t you? Oh no. Clearly disappointed that I wasn’t interested in following him anymore he comes back and as I’m beginning to set off from the lights decides to try and goad me verbally into racing him again so I just called him a bell end and let him get on his way; which he did, at high speed again past all the traffic that I had just been sat behind at the lights and against oncoming traffic on the last right hand bend as you approach the school. This was where, for his grand finale, he passing an articulated lorry approaching the blind bend on the wrong side of the road!!!!! So, if the pond life concerned happens to be in this group and reading this you are indeed one of the biggest bell ends I have ever been so unfortunate to come across. The guy who was learning with the Instructor showed significantly better bike skills than you and he doesn’t even have licence, which may I add, neither should you! You are the sort of person that gives the rest of us such a bad name so, for the sake of the rest of us, go and do the sensible thing and buy yourself a bus pass because you clearly don’t know the first thing about safe motorcycle riding! Rant over!
