I dont have a big problem with the Popes comment about Rabbits and Contraception, since human beings shouldnt act like beasts and reproduce without reason and discernment. That is his point. The issue isnt so much the content of what the Pope says, it is the fact that people will misapply this to mean that families with 9 or more kids are somehow acting like rabbits, which was not his point at all. I get the sense that people are developing a resentment towards our holy father. I understand why people are having a difficult time with statements that are unclear. But please be discerning in realizing that the devil will take any weakness of our Bishop of Rome and exploit it to create camps and divisions beyond what is reasonable. I do not see the fruits of the Holy Spirit in many peoples reactions. Part of this resentment comes from a place of loneliness and feelings of a lack of support from others. There are many orthodox families out there who feel persecuted from within the Church and they want the Pope to have their backs. When his language fills others with confusion and ammunition against us (unintentionally) it is understandably frustrating because you are looking for unity amongst the Church. I understand this...it has been my own struggle even before Pope Francis, and feeling the lack of union in others in the Church with regard to the mind-of-Christ breeds a severe isolation and anxiety around matters of the faith and our own affective needs. He isnt as clear with theological language as Pope Benedict XVI was, I totally agree with that. And his comments are causing a lot of confusion amongst people of a simple-faith and secularists. But try to take it upon yourself as an opportunity to clarify for others what the Church actually teaches. Lets turn his weakness into a strength.
