I dont normally like to rant on FB, but I feel strongly that our rights as consumers are being violated. I feel the need to point out that when one walked into an Apple store 4-5 years ago, it was like the light of God shone down upon you. It was shining, clean, and you were welcomed by smiling employees with no wait who would give you a new device on the spot. I can see how they maybe cant do that anymore BUT...the customer service mixed with the quality of the products (which rarely had issues) was the reason so many (including myself) switched to Apple. Today, going to an Apple store is as unpleasant as the DMV. Overcrowding, angry customers, angry employees, understaffed because of one of two reasons, a.) They dont want to cut into their profits to have ample customer service, or b.) The products, post Steve Jobs, have just been produced to stop working more often needing more service, which along with the understaffing issue, creates an atmosphere as pleasant as the 7th circle of hell when you attempt to go into an Apple store. I have spent more hours in the last 2 months waiting for Apple to answer the phone, waiting on hold, and waiting in the store than I have working on things that make me money. I cant see this business model working for them much longer without some consumer backlash. The gentleman in front of me yesterday had a brand new iPhone 6 that wasnt working properly...he was told he would be without a phone for a week until the next available genius bar appt. Perhaps they should separate the retail store from service and open a bunch of service stores? This is not fair to the people who pay $3500 for a laptop or $900 for a phone. I just finally got my computer back from Town Square, it was not fixed, and I just had to wait another hour on the phone and told I had to either go back to the genius bar queue of NEXT WEEK or go to the store, wait a few hours, see if there is a cancellation, and possibly still not get it fixed when it was THEIR FAULT it was not fixed the first time. Perhaps we can all quit our jobs to wait for tech support at Apple? I have spent the better part of a month trying to get my 1 year old top of the line Macbook Pro working. Nintendo seemed to get it right...they prided themselves on their stuff never breaking. The proof is in that my original NES from 1987 still works today. It is frustrating as a consumer and as an American that we are powerless to do nothing for our rights of a quality product...except dish out more dollars for the new model 6 months after purchasing the last one. There is not even anyone to complain to, or anyone who even cares. We need to start demanding better customer service as a collective American people.
