I dont suppose anyone on here has any knowledge about colour genetics? My friend is hoping to provide a home for an all-white border collie cross and I am concerned about the risk of deafness. The pup is male, 3/4 border collie and 1/4 rough collie on his mums side. His mum is a b&w (although in one of the photos, brown can be seen underneath her coat, almost like she is masking a kind of sable colour), his dad predominantly white and neither are merles (which my friend claims is the only risk with white dogs) there is himself and another like him in the litter, white head to toe, along with what looks to be a shaded sable and three which are predominantly black. I have googled the subject and there appears to be a lot of information which backs up both of our arguments. I dont suppose there is anyone with more comprehensive knowledge that may be able to settle this is there? Ive included a photo:
