I dont wanna be that guy, but Im gonna be that guy. I went on a hunt for Job For A Cowboys new album Sun Eater today with Alex Wilking. Its arguably the best metal album of the year, so we figured it wouldnt be too hard to find. Our first stop was Vintage Vinyl. Granted, you just never know what those guys will have in stock, but they had Obituary and Exodus new album. Sun Eater, or anything by JFAC for that matter, wasnt even in their system. Our next stop was Best Buy. Ive always found that they had a pretty good variety of music there, and always seemed to have what I was looking for. I even nabbed BTBAMs live DVD earlier this year. This time around, however, they had one measly shelf of music, NONE of which was Job For A Cowboys Sun Eater. At least this time they had it in their registry. The final, and embarrassingly, last ditch effort was Hot Topic. The tried and true place to find at least semi-popular metal, however horrible that store may be. The place was SUPPOSED to be all about music after all. When we arrived... they didnt even have a music rack. They had three CDs on display by check out: Motionless In White, and two other bands that were so awful that Ive already forgotten. They didnt even have Slipknots new album which TOPPED THE CHARTS THIS YEAR. People are out there wondering why physical sales have dropped? Why digital is taking over? Its because you cant find the best metal album of the year in stores, and Hot Topic doesnt even sell music. Thats why. Dammit.
