I dont want to speak much on this at the moment, but I saw - TopicsExpress

I dont want to speak much on this at the moment, but I saw something that really perturbed me today. It was graffiti that read, All cops are bastards. No. I do not agree. And to be honest with you, I think a lot of the focused outrage on cops is blinding a lot of people who are missing the larger trend. It is clear that the cavalier use of force in this country is not only becoming increasingly frequent, especially targeting minorities (specifically black males), but also increasingly more lethal for the minor crimes being committed. That I acknowledge and wholeheartedly agree with. But the corruption and de jure hatred should not be blamed on the cops, but rather those that interpret law. The cops are operating under the assumption that they no longer live under the pretense of the law. But ANYONE (police, politicians, lawyers, corporate officials, for example) are all just as easily corrupted under the same precedence of lawlessness. In addition, the hatred (or at least mistrust) of whites in these situations intrinsically stems not from the white person themselves committing faults, but the law recognizing the faults of whites and non-whites differently. And this is where I make my point. If you want change, dont end with holding police accountable. Those accused are acting as any other criminal. They hire a lawyer that can talk their way around the laws, feed vital information that allows for loopholes, and gets known criminals off on technicalities. It has become a lawyers job to WIN a case instead of being a participant in the enactment of justice. THERE IS A TV SHOW ON ABC THAT BLATANTLY SHOWS THIS PRACTICE HAPPENING (How to get away with murder)! Look at the blatant disrespect for the law in the Darren Wilson grand jury (e.g. his lawyers not only breaking protocol, but also telling the GJ of laws that had been overturned, purposefully confusing a jury of citizens who are inexperienced in deciphering law). Empathetically, If I were a police officer who had gone through training being told You are the law. You are justice, had a lawyer I knew could confuse my peers and find loopholes for me to pass through, and was given the power to strike as much fear as police and law makers are allowed to empress upon average citizens, I too could dilute myself into thinking I had the right to take the law into my own hands. Do I think the individuals who cause these crimes should be punished. More than you can possibly imagine. Do I think police officers should receive the full brunt of this hatred. No. Lawyers and those who twist the legal and political climate to their own gains and to oppress a set of people (in this case I mean not only blacks, but the poor, the hourly wage worker, and any person without the means to hold their own when it comes to defending themselves legally) should be equally or more so to blame. I cannot dismiss any of the police officers who bastardized their positions by committing mortal acts upon the citizens they were sworn to protect, but there are unspeakable acts I wish to commit against those who manipulate the law to let those corrupted people be freely corrupt and unaccountable for their heinous actions. Black lives matter. ALL lives matter. Even more importantly, ALL LIVES ARE EQUAL AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.
