I encounter far too many people who think that success (whatever that is) hinges on hustle hustle HUSTLE! They think that if they work themselves to death, they will at long-last achieve something worth living for. From several years of trying different methods, Ive come to disagree with this mentality. It is not about overworking yourself until you die. It is about routine. It is about pacing yourself, allowing measured time for hustle but also, measured time for reflection and unwinding. The unwind, the slowing down, makes your hustle time far more productive. In application, if you are freelance and clients are forcing you into a constant state of hustle, its time for you to shove pacing yourself back into their stress-woven faces. Set office hours. Stick to them and hustle during them. But when they are over, leave, be absent, be unavailable. In the United States, being busy has become a brag, a goal in and off itself. It is in fact only a way to blow through your life. I am convinced that if you live this way, you will, on your deathbed, look back in regret. So, I love this little film with a deep and personal appreciation. Pace yourselves, friends. Remember Vanity! Vanity! All is vanity! and take your careers a little less seriously. vimeo/113758779
