I encourage everyone to watch this doc The Internets Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz on Aaron Swartz (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Swartz). Its about his short (26 years) but amazing life, his tragic death, his awesome technical and social innovations and achievements, and the brutality that arose from the current state of the justice and political systems (which he sought to improve also). The system tragically mislabeled and made life hell for an otherwise constructive revolutionary prodigy. Did the system forget that renaissance men were embraced by kings? A loss for humanity. Aaron had an unbeatable combination of political insight, technical skill, and intelligence about people and issues. I think he could have revolutionized American (and worldwide) politics. His legacy may still yet do so. He used his prodigious skills as a programmer and technologist not to enrich himself but to make the Internet and the world a fairer, better place. The question this government needs to answer is why it was so necessary that Aaron Swartz be labeled a felon. ...charging a young man like Mr. Swartz with federal offenses punishable by over 35 years of federal imprisonment seems remarkably aggressive — particularly when it appears that one of the principal aggrieved parties ... did not support a criminal prosecution.
