I enjoyed watching this debate. But I am always concerned with middle class people from other cultures evaluating an artform created by poor blacks. Also, I love Michael Eric Dyson, but Ive noticed that many of his examples of positivity in hip-hop come from the 1990s and early 2000s. Anyone who has followed the music closely since that time (I listen to it every day) realizes that some of the content has gotten much worse since the heydays of Lauryn Hill and Nas. Also, anyone willing to criticize hip-hop must also be willing to defend it. The art form is too diverse to put all of the lyrical content into one category. brothersonsports/jesse-jackson-q-tip-krs-one-others-ask-if-hip-hop-is-destroying-society/
