I enlisted in the Louisiana Army National Guard 12 years ago. I joined because like most people, I needed help paying for college. On September 11, 2001 I knew I was going to have to put off those college plans for a little while. My commitment took on a whole new meaning after that day. Soon after that I deployed to Afghanistan. In 2005 after Hurricane Katrina I deployed to New Orleans. In 2007 I reenlisted for another 6 years and went to MP school.Before I even graduated, I learned that I would be deploying to Iraq. Today Im on my 3rd 6 year enlistment. Im proud of where Ive been and what Ive done. Im proud of those who I served with. I would give my life for them and they would give theirs for me. Happy Veterans Day to all who served this country and to those away from home that keep our enemies awake at night!
