I entered this autumn with ambitious back to shape project. To this date basically I didnt get started yet, thanks to the neverending flu-viruses that my dear offspring keeps bringing from the kindergarten. Thats two months of almost complete inactivity so far. Ive been doing regular sports since my father took me to junior-football club, about 32 years ago. In that kind of time-frame you develop an addiction to physical activity very similar to the less healthy addictions to different substances. The with-drawal symptoms are not quite as dramatic -usually only grumpiness, shortened temper, extreme pissed-offness and strong desire to spread the bad mood around- but I seriously dont envy the position of sport-addicts wife/husband when one month of flus has passed and theres no end in sight. Being an instructor doesnt help, since not only you cannot do your sport but you also have to watch others do it and ensure everybody ELSE has a good time. Several times per week. =D One month is pain, the second becomes pure agony. This is where professionalism should kick in. If youre feeling ok enough to stand there and teach, it means youre good enough to do it properly. Its not the students fault youre feeling like wet rag. This weekend I started to feel a tad better so I decided that monday morning Ill try easy running and few chin-ups. Presto, this morning when I got up from bed, ready to run, a sharp pain from spinal-disc made me go EEEEEK. Entering the Ozzy Osbourne-walking mode I made my way to kitchen for some painkillers. Far beyond driven to give up on the running idea I waited for the medicine to take effect, did my full body mobilisation routine and showered the lower back for 10min with hot/cold water. And went for 30min of sluggish jogging. And did two brutal series of 3x3 chin-ups. And then the endorfins kicked in. The day will come when Im not able to do this anymore, but the day is not today. You know the song. =D https://youtube/watch?v=XHQdpnYFl7k
