I extend warm greetings and felicitations to you all as we celebrate Eid-el-Adha. I congratulate Kenyans who have undertaken the annual Hajj pilgrimage, one of the key pillars of the Islam faith. As you celebrate the Feast of Sacrifice let me urge you, our Muslim brothers and sisters, to offer special prayers for peace, harmony, unity, security and progress in our country, Kenya. I also implore you, as always, to find time in the midst of the celebrations to meditate on the immense benefits our nation can derive from a greater exhibition by its people of piety, honesty, selflessness, tolerance and peaceful co-existence with others, which are an integral part of the message of the Holy Prophet. As we commemorate this occasion, let me assure you that my Government will continue to promote and encourage the freedom of worship as enshrined in the Constitution. Through peace, hope, unity and harmonious co-existence, our country will also overcome the challenges of development to build a prosperous nation. Let us also remain proactive in taking actions deemed necessary, including exposing evil-minded characters in our midst, for the sustenance of peace and security in all parts of our country. I urge Muslim families and friends to remember to share with the needy in line with the tenets of the Holy Koran. Kenyans from all faiths also join you in observing this great occasion in the Islamic calendar. Let us embrace the spirit of assisting one another and sharing with the needy and deprived in society.
