I feel like such a bad mom... anything and everything in my house is a toy, and I do play with the cats with those feathered teasers, but all th catnip mice had disappeared some months ago, and since the cats are ALWAYS finding things to bat around, I hadnt bothered to replace the mice until tonight. I found some toys that I think are big enough not to get sucked into the vacuum or disappear down the side of the couch and gave one to each cat (and got the dog a toy too). They have been playing with them for over an hour! They just lit up when I gave each of them their OWN mousey, and I feel like Ive deprived them all this time by not replacing the mice sooner. When I first gave them their toys, they each took it to a safe spot to hunch over it and growl, then they started batting them around, now they are chasing each other through the house, trying to steal each others toys.. The favorite one seems to be the Crinkle Buddy--its basically a stuffed rat with a long, flat body that makes crinkly noises and feathers and ribbons coming out the tail end. It seems to be perfect for throwing up in the air and rolling around kicking, not to mention, being big enough to tempt the other cats to steal, so they can chase each other for it.
