I feel like words cannot possibly begin to describe how incredible - TopicsExpress

I feel like words cannot possibly begin to describe how incredible the last 18-or-so hours have been here in Iceland. At around 8PM last night, I joined 16 others in a trek to a cave by a lake in the middle of nowhere, south of Reykjavík. Most of these people I had just met - in fact I knew only two others from a chance encounter last Thursday at Yoko Onos Imagine Peace Tower lighting event. Even so, I felt immediately among incredible friends - we were all gathered to hear singer/songwriter Christian Duell share his latest works before travelling to his girlfriend in the first place I ever left the US to explore: Bangalore, India. The night was filled with stories, music, laughter, food, and an overall level of human connection it has been quite some time since I last felt. New friendships and old all in one place, with everyone sharing something about their lives and how they came to find themselves sitting in a cave by a roaring fire in the middle of nowhere, Iceland. The evening was topped off with mother natures own performance - my first of many spectacular showings of the northern lights here in this country. It was the first time I ever spent the night in a cave, out in the wilderness, with nothing but a wool blanket and the clothes on my back. But it felt like it was exactly where I belonged. Heres to returning to this place soon, and heres to the amazing people Ive met so far - old friends and new - in this adventure that is life.
