I find this a bit troubling. Pro-Palestinian demonstrators congregated outside businesses in Manhattans diamond district, because most of these businesses are owned by Jews. This suggests that either: (1) The men who own and work for these businesses are responsible for what Israel is doing because they are Jews, or (2) The Jews are to blame for the war and the oppression of the Palestinian people. In the context of the numerous anti-semitic incidents recently in Paris and elsewhere in Europe, protestors should be more circumspect. One of the most important ideological tasks is dissociating Jewishness from Zionism. The origins of this association lie within Zionism itself. We should not buy it.
