I first met Vince Flynn in ‘91 or ’92 through a mutual friend. In 1996, he came down for the Olympics and stayed with me at my house near Emory. When he first arrived he handed me a manuscript. Said he’d quit the business job and been tending bar at night and writing in the mornings. Asked me to read it and let him what I thought. I still remember him walking in my front door as I was lying on the couch reading. I was about halfway through the typewritten copy. “So, whadda ya think?” “Vinnie, the highest compliment I can give you is a few minutes ago I realized that I forgot you wrote this.” That manuscript became his first book “Term Limits.” It’s been a while since I’ve seen Vince, but I always got a kick out of walking through airports and seeing his books everywhere. Vince was a good guy, a fine writer, and someone I always thought I’d see again. Requiescat in pace, buddy.
