I found a couple of obituaries on the Record Gazette website: Tom W. Steele Tom entered this life on March 23, 1967 in Phoenix, Ariz. and departed on Nov. 5, 2013 in Los Angeles due to meningitis. Tom graduated from Banning High School and attended the College of Engineering in Los Angeles. He lived a very fulfilling and interesting life that always involved his life-long passion for fishing. He owned a commercial fishing business in both Hawaii and Florida. He was a deep-sea diver and scuba instructor. At the time of his death, he owned a business in Long Beach. He leaves behind his parents, Archie and Helen Sue Callahan Steele; brothers, Archie “Trae” Steele, III of Kalispell, Mont. and Walter Steele of Beaumont; along with aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. A gathering of family and friends took place in Long Beach on Saturday, Nov. 9 in remembrance and mourning. The following morning Sunday, Nov. 10, everyone gathered on a yacht and headed out to sea to scatter Tom’s remains in his beloved Pacific Ocean. Jerry Trimble Jerry Trimble passed away Oct. 16, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born in Boswell, Ind. on Sept. 4, 1930 to Lonnie and Claire Prother Trimble. Jerry was married in Winter Haven, Calif. to Marie Trimble, and together they shared 53 years of marriage. He attended RCC Riverside and San Diego State, earning his AA in federal law. Jerry resided on the Cabazon Morongo Indian Reservation for 35 years. He also made his home in Banning for 18 years. He worked for the GTE Phone Company for 10 years and the Banning Police Department for 17 years. Jerry was captain and chief of Casino Morongo. He worked at Soboba Casino as Chief and Gaming Commissioner. While serving on the Banning Police Department, Jerry received the Citation of Valor and Certificate of Merit by the American Federation of Police for the arrest of an armed man, later charged with assault and intent to commit murder. Jerry was involved with the community, and held the position of governor at the Moore Lodge and belonged to the Eagles. He was affiliated with the Morongo Moravian Church. Jerry Trimble, also known as Rex Starr recording artist, Columbian Records, worked on WLS Barn dance, the Louisiana Hay Ride, the Wheeling Jamboree Renfro Valley Barn dance, and has performed shows after Ernest Tubb, Hank Snow, Carl Smith and many others. Rex worked hundreds of rodeos and fairs throughout the U.S., as well as clubs in Reno, Vegas, Tahoe and places in Canada. Jerry is survived by his wife, Marie Trimble of Banning; his sons, Cody (Melanie) Trimble of Highland and Frank Trimble of Yucca Valley; his daughter, Dyevanna Figuieredo of Highland; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and friends Al and Maria Vargas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Claire Prother Trimble of Boswell, Ind. Visitation will take place Oct. 24, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wiefels & Son in Banning, with a service following on Oct. 25, 2013 at 10 a.m., also at Wiefels & Son in Banning. Final interment will take place at the Morongo Moravian Cemetery.
