I found out last week that my scoutmaster, Bill Barnett, died on Tuesday the 28th. Bill and his late wife treated me as one of their own...I was always welcome in their home...he was more than a scoutmaster. I have tried to be like him in so many ways. When I was first made a scoutmaster I asked myself, What would Bill do? As my involvement in Scouting is now much deeper than it has been in the past, I still see his example of leadership of how it can be done. I remember his bottom lip trembling in anger at some shenanigan that was done, but never remember hearing a foul word pass his lips. It was usually Cmon you guys, straighten up! It was always so much more than pitching a tent or building a fire. Farewell, Bill! Thank you for the great memories and instruction!
