I found out late last night that my dear friend Marissa Ossia Strac from Help Save One, her former dog rescue, passed away from stage 4 breast cancer yesterday. For those of you who donated and adopted dogs from them, I thank you. She saved the lives of many despite what bullshit rumors others spread about the rescue, including a RI news station who insinuated she was faking her cancer. WTF? We have two HSO dogs, Gruff and Snowy, thanks to Marissa saving them from unspeakably cruel fates. Marissa was one of the most magical, funniest, smartest, bravest, and most determined women I have ever known. We learned a lot about rescue together, and had it not been for HSO, I would know next to nothing, some from hard heart to big lessons, that we learned together. RIP Marissa.
